Addis Ababa, June 17, 2024 (FBC) – Ethiopian boxing athletes have won two gold medals at the Genocide Memorial Boxing Tournament 2024, held in Kigali, Rwanda.
In the women’s 57 kg category, Genet Tsegaye showcased exceptional skill, triumphing over her Rwandan opponent to claim a gold medal and the title of best female boxer of the tournament.
Abraham Alem, competing in the men’s 63.5 kg category defeated his Rwandan counterpart to secure a gold medal.
Ethiopian boxers’ commendable performance in the category they competed earned them the trophy, while their overall tally of two gold medals secured them a well-deserved second place in the Genocide Memorial Boxing Tournament overall standings.
