Addis Ababa, April 11, 2024 (FBC) – The Ethiopian delegation, under the leadership of Chief Commissioner of the Federal Police General Demelash Gebre-Michael, is currently engaged in the Conference of the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum in Lianyungang, located in the eastern region of China’s Jiangsu Province.
It has been highlighted that the forum will deliberate on the annual performance report, the ongoing research pertaining to the Global Security Index, and the arrangements for the forum’s conference scheduled for 2024, culminating in the adoption of resolutions.
It was indicated that the forum is actively conducting a range of initiatives through the coordination of Ethiopian law enforcement agencies, with a specific emphasis on enhancing public security on an international scale.
Furthermore, it has been noted that Commissioner General Demelash Gebre-Michael holds a position as one of the board members of the Forum, which is overseen by distinguished board directors representing nine countries, including Ethiopia.
Commissioner General Demelash embarked on visits to various institutions in China during the sidelines of the conference, notably including CFMoto, an electric motorcycle manufacturer situated in Jiangsu Province. During his visit, he extended gratitude to the company for the provision of state-of-the-art motorcycles to the Ethiopian Federal Police Commission.
Furthermore, he emphasized that should the company choose to invest in Ethiopia, it stands to gain from access to the Ethiopian market and the wider region. In response, the management of CFMoto assured General Demelash of their unwavering commitment to bolstering their support for the Ethiopian police force, while also expressing their keen interest in establishing a branch in Ethiopia.
Moreover, Commissioner General Demelash, during his deliberations with the leadership of the Xinjiang Police College, expressed appreciation for the tuition-free education extended to members of the Ethiopian Federal Police. He further urged the college’s management to impart their extensive long-term expertise.
In response, the college leaders affirmed their intention to visit Ethiopia, collaborate with the Ethiopian Police University, and offer essential support in the forthcoming period.
