Addis Ababa, January 28, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopian athletes shined and shattered records in the World Indoor Tour athletics competition held in Karlsruhe, Germany, according to the World Athletics’ report.
The Ethiopian athletes won the 3,000 meters in both men and women categories.
In the women’s category, Ethiopian athletes conquered the top five spots, as Athlete Lelem Hailu won the race, clocking 8 minutes 37 seconds and 55 microseconds.
Meanwhile, her compatriot Athlete Workwuha Getachew finished second with 8 minutes, 37 seconds and 98 microseconds. Fellow Ethiopian athlete Dawiti Seyoum came third with 8 minutes, 39 seconds and 20 microseconds.
Athlete Mizan Alem and athlete Zerfe Wondmagegn finished their competition by taking fourth and fifth place, respectively.
In the men’s 3000 meters race, 17 year old Abdisa Fayisa stunned the crowed as he wins his first indoor race competition, clocking with 7 minutes, 40 seconds, and 35 microseconds.
Athlete Abdisa Fayisa becomes the first ever 17 year old athlete to register the fastest time in men’s 3000 meters indoor race.
Another Ethiopian athlete, Addisu Girma, took the third spot, clocking 7 minutes, 41 seconds and 53 microseconds.
