Ethiopian and Libyan FMs Discuss Bilateral Relations

Addis Ababa, September 4, 2024 (2024 (FBC) – On September 3, 2024, during the Ninth Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in Beijing, a bilateral meeting took place between Ambassador Taye Atske-Selassie, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, and Al-Taher Salem Al-Baour, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Libya.

The two high-ranking officials engaged in productive discussions focused on strengthening the longstanding ties between Ethiopia and Libya.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both ministers to exchange views on various bilateral issues of mutual interest. Key topics included enhancing economic cooperation, addressing regional security challenges, and exploring avenues for increased collaboration in areas such as trade, investment, and cultural exchange.

The discussion underscored the shared commitment of Ethiopia and Libya to deepen their diplomatic and economic ties, in alignment with the broader objectives of fostering unity, integration and development across the African continent.

Both ministers expressed their appreciation for the platform provided by the FOCAC conference, which continues to serve as a vital forum for reinforcing Africa-China relations and facilitating dialogue among African nations, as per the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia.
