Addis Ababa, August 8, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopian Airlines will receive 8 passenger aircraft and add six more international destinations in the coming few months, Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO told ENA.
Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO, Mesfin Tassew told ENA that the airline has ordered 26 aircraft from Boeing and Airbus companies where 8 of them will be received in the coming few months.
The rest of the airplanes will be delivered later on and the airline has also plan to bring in more aircraft, he said.
“We have ordered 26 planes. We will bring 8 new airplanes in this fiscal year. The rest will come after that. We are also in negotiations to order new planes,” Mesfin said.
The two planes purchased from Boeing will be received after two months and following that the airline will add six more international destinations.
One destination will be in Africa and the rest are in European countries, the CEO said.
Madrid, Amsterdam, London Gatwick, Lisbon, Vietnam’s Hanoi, and Central Africa’s Bangui will be the airline’s new destinations, he pointed out.
The airline is working to achieve a target of increasing its revenue by 22 percent this year, according to Mesfin.
For this purpose, besides increasing the number of aircrafts and expanding flight destinations, infrastructure expansion and improvement of customer service are being carried out, he explained.
According to him, reform activities are being strengthened in many other areas of the airline.
“As we plan to increase our revenue by 22 percent, we will add 6 international destinations, most of them in Europe,” he stated, pointing out that they are Madrid, London-Gatwick, Lisbon, Amsterdam, Vietnam’s Hanoi, and Central Africa’s Bangui.
