Ethiopia vows to continue efforts to fight terrorism financing

Addis Ababa, November 18, 2022 (FBC) – Ethiopian delegation led by Binalf Andualem, Minister of Peace of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia is participating at the 3rd Ministerial Conference on Counter-Terrorism Financing “No Money for Terror” NMFT which is being held in New Delhi, India from 18 to 19 November 2022.

The conference, which was graced by Prime Minister Naredra Modi who also delivered an inaugural message at the opening, is organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Government of India and is attended by more than 50 states and 20 plus multilateral organizations.

Minister Binalf Andualem in his remarks noted the Ethiopian government’s efforts in fulfilling its responsibilities to maintain the peace and security of the nation by fighting terrorism and international terrorist groups.

He explained the establishment of various strong preventive measures and legal and institutional frameworks emanating from international conventions, resolutions and standards that are aimed at fighting terrorism and terrorism financing.

The Minister also explained the role of various government institutions that play significant role in disrupting terrorist actions at a national and regional level including financial intelligence to fight illicit financial transactions and money laundering.

In his remarks Minister Binalf stressed the need to re-establish and strength institutional system as well as cement international cooperation as terrorism is a global concern, noting “Ethiopia will continue its unreserved efforts to fight terrorism financing”.
