Addis Ababa, September 22, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopia has been carrying out successful diplomatic work at the United Nations 78th General Assembly (UNGA), Ethiopia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations said.
In his briefing about Ethiopia’s participation at the assembly, Ambassador Tesfaye Yilma said the country has conducted effective discussion with various countries and international institutions on the sidelines of the assembly.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen had discussions with high-level government and international institutions officials and partners on bilateral, regional and multilateral issues of cooperation, he added.
According to him, through the discussions consensus has been reached that Ethiopia’s reform and peace process is on the right track.
On the other hand, Ethiopia has elucidated its position at the discussions on the sidelines of the meeting organized by different countries and institutions, the representative pointed out.
During these occasions, Ethiopia has called for reform of the United Nations and the need for Africa to get permanent representation at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
Ambassador Tesfaye stated that Ethiopia had the opportunity to explain the realty on the ground and reflect its position at the general assembly, according to ENA.
The discussions with the various representatives of international institutions and companies were held also fruitful, according to the permanent representative.
The desire of global financial institutions and companies to extend financial support and invest in Ethiopia is promising, he disclosed.
The ongoing United Nations 78th General Assembly (UNGA) will conclude on September 26, 2023.
