Addis Ababa, November 5, 2022 (FBC) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Ethiopia, Demeke Mekonen, met with Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Sheik Abudullah bin Zayed.
During the meeting, Demek briefed the Foreign Minister of the UAE about the recent peace agreement signed between the Federal Government of Ethiopia and the TPLF.
He expressed the commitment and readiness of the Federal Government of Ethiopia to implement the peace agreement towards ensuring sustainable peace in the country.
Furthermore, the discussions include enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries in areas of trade and investment, among others.
Abdullahi, on his part, welcomed the peace agreement reached to end the conflict in northern Ethiopia and reiterated his country’s support of any kind for the implementation of the peace agreement.
Speaking on bolstering the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, the Foreign Minister reiterated the commitment of the UAE Government to elevate partnerships, including in the areas of trade and investment, to the highest possible level.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke is participating in the 13th Sir Bani Yas Forum, hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi this week, according to MFA Ethiopia.
The forum also discusses peace and security and related issues in the Middle East and the region at large.
