Addis Ababa, November 4, 2022 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Ministry of Water & Energy and SNV Netherlands Development Organization held discussion regarding cooperation on water and energy.
The discussion was carried out between Minister of Water and Energy, Habtamu Itefa, and CEO of the Netherlands Development Organization, Simon O’Connell.
As the Minister stated in the discussion, during the reform carried out last year, emphasis was placed on drinking water, sanitation and energy development.
He stated that new structures were also formed and put into operation in the previous fiscal year.
In joint cooperation works with the SNV Netherlands Development Organization, Habtamu stressed that emphasis should be given on projects that could be implemented in rural areas of Ethiopia which directly benefit the society.
He further stressed that emphasis should also be placed on the national efforts to increase the coverage of drinking water supply, develop and use underground water, collect and use rainwater, water infrastructure and water resource information management system.
Simon O’Connell, on the other hand, said that they are interested in working in partnership with Ethiopia on successful projects that have been piloted in Mozambique, Kenya and other countries, as per Ministry of Water & Energy.
