Ethiopia to hold the African Youth Future leaders Summit 

Addis Ababa, October 13, 2022 (FBC) – The Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Meles Alem, in a biweekly press briefing, stated that the 10th edition of Tana Forum will be held in Bahir Dar city from tomorrow.

The Spokesperson indicated that the Forum will take place from October 14-16 in a way to promote social,  economic and cooperation among african nations.

Ambassador Meles Alem also disclosed that preparations have been finalized to expand the Green Legacy Initiative in neighboring countries and other current diplomatic activities.

He stated that more than 300 participants will participate in the forum including leaders of three countries, former leaders, community activists, security scholars and representatives of civil institutions and development partners.

He pointed out that tree planting will be undertaken in South Sudan, Sudan, Djibouti, Somalia, Rwanda and Kenya with participation of Ethiopian youths.

Meles highlighted the significance of green development diplomacy for better regional connectivity.

He added that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Demeke Mekonnen has seen off the participants upon their departure. 

It is expected that there will be a discussion with the youth of each target country in the side line of the tree planting session, according to the Spokesperson.

The discussion will aim at enabling the current young leaders to play their part in the efforts under way to strengthen regional integration.

The African Youth Future leaders Summit is also planned to be held in Addis Ababa at the end of October following the tree plantation.
