Addis Ababa, July 4, 2022 (FBC) – The Transport and Logistics Minister, Dagmawit Moges briefed the CEO of the Ethiopian Airlines, Mesfin Tasew and other staff on the establishment of the Ethiopian Free Trade Zone in Dire Dawa City.
Feasibility study has already been conducted in participation of various public institutions, and findings corroborated the necessity of the formation of the free trade areas, Dagmawit explained.
Establishment of the free trade zone will be prioritizing areas including trade, comprehensive logistics service, export processing zone and export facilitation, according to the Minister.
Government will leverage the immense experiences of the Ethiopian Airlines in cargo operation and logistics leadership in realizing the formation of the free trade zone, she added. Mesfin Tasew, for his part, stated that the Ethiopian Arilines will contribute its share in the formation of the free trade zone.
It is stated during the meeting that the area would help the nation enhance commercial and industrial exports by encouraging economic growth.
