Ethiopia, South Korea ink agreement to ameliorate drone mapping

Addis Ababa, November 5, 2022 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Ministry of Urban and Infrastructure (MoUI) and Korea Institute of Aviation Safety Technology have signed an agreement to boost drone mapping in Ethiopia.

The agreement is said to bring drone-based mapping services and high-level skills transfer to Ethiopia.

According to MoUI, the agreement also has the potential to be an effective tool for change.

The project is led by Korean drone-based geomatics and surveying experts Hojung Solutions.

Andrew Cho, vice president of Hojung, said during the agreement that this memorandum of understanding will allow for continuous development of drone skills, safety frameworks and drone applications, and start further cooperation activities.

At the Smart Geospatial Expo being held in South Korea, experiences on the collection and management of spatial data from various countries were presented.

The Executive Director of Land and Cadaster at MoUI, Bzualem Admasu, explained the standards of our country and the work that needs to be done in the field, the Ministry confirms.
