Addis Ababa, January 13, 2023 (FBC) – Ambassador Muktar Kedir, stated that Ethiopia and South Africa are working closely to further buttress their cooperation on regional and global issues beyond bilateral relations.
Ethiopia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to South Africa, Mukhtar Kedir, stated that the two countries are working intimately in trade, investment, people-to-people and other fields.
Apart from hosting the event for the peace agreement recently reached between the Ethiopian government and TPLF, he went on to recall that South Africa played an important role in facilitating the process.
With this, he said that the peace agreement is a platform where success has been recorded in “generating African solutions to African problems”.
The Ambassador revealed that efforts are underway to establish a strong economic diplomacy that will benefit the two countries.
In an interview with ENA, Ambassador Muktar said that in addition to bilateral relations, the two countries are working to ensure mutual benefit by taking a strong common position on continental and international issues.
He mentioned that South Africans resolved the troubles posed by the apartheid system through dialogue and built a better country.
Ethiopia will learn multiple experiences from South Africa as it is especially important for the success of the national dialogue process, the Ambassador added.
