Addis Ababa, March 23, 2023 (FBC) Ethiopia and South Africa have signed a memorandum of understanding to work together in the tourism sector.
According to Ministry of Tourism (MoT), the MoU was signed by Selamawit Dawit, FDRE’s State Minister of Tourism, and Victor Tharage, Director General at Department of Tourism in South Africa.
MoT added that the signed MoU was widely discussed by the technical teams of the two countries.
Accordingly, a regular exchange of information around the main issues of the MoU conducted to benefit both countries from the sector including promotion, cooperation and development.
MoT also stated that the MoU is focused on the facilitation, marketing, immigration and travel issues of the tourism sector of both countries.
It added that the MoU includes capacity building and training as well as tourism investment compatible with the culture and values of the two countries
MoT indicated that the two countries have also formed a six-member technical committee to monitor the implementation of the signed agreements.
In addition, the committee will continue to monitor the implementation of the agreement through the two countries permanent contact, MoT has stated.
