Ethiopia, South Africa ink cooperation agreement on extradition

Addis Ababa, July 31, 2023 (FBC) – The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Republic of South Africa have signed an agreement to extradite individuals suspected of crimes.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen, South Africa’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Naledi Pandor and other high-level officials of the two countries are participating in the fourth Ethiopia-South Africa Joint Ministerial Commission meetings, opened this morning in Addis Ababa.

During the meeting, the two countries signed the agreement to extradite individuals suspected of crimes.

The agreement was signed by Ethiopia’s Minister of Justice Gideon Timothewos and South Africa’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Naledi Pandor.

It is stated that the two countries evaluated the status of performance of the bilateral agreements signed before in trade, investment, science, innovation, education, health, culture and many other fields.
