Addis Ababa, September 7, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopia and Somalia have joined hands to scale up their bilateral cooperation through trade, the Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration of Ethiopia confirmed.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the two countries after the conclusion of the first-ever Ethiopia-Somalia Joint Ministerial Commission held in Mogadishu.
After signing the MoU, Minister of Trade and Regional Integration, Gebremeskel Chala stated that the agreement will help Ethiopia and Somalia to bolster their historic relations and carry out many further works focused on the mutual benefit of the trade sector.
It is to be remembered that the first-ever Ethiopia-Somalia Joint Ministerial Commission meeting was held today (07 September 2023) in Mogadishu, Somalia.
Co-chaired by Ethiopia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Demeke Mekonnen, and Somalia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Salah Ahmed Jama, the session was preceded by the Senior Officials meeting, which took place from 5 to 6 September 2023.
