Addis Ababa, June 21, 2024 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) underscored the need for a paradigm and mindset shift for the change the government wants to see in nation’s Green Legacy endeavors.
“Our goal for this year is to reach 40 billion seedlings, which means we need to collectively plant 7.5 billion seedlings this planting cycle,” the Premier said.
“For anyone who wants to leave a legacy for future generations, we must invest in the future today,” the Prime Minister added.
At the Green Legacy Initiative pre-launch today, Ethiopia’s Forest Cover report was released, showing an increase from 17.2% in 2019 to 23.6% in 2023. An international documentary on the GLI also premiered. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed emphasized the need to continue building on this progress.
