Addis Ababa, November 18, 2024 (FBC) – Ethiopia has been selected to host the Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) (P4G) Summit in 2027, the Ministry of Planning & Development (MoPD) disclosed today.
This story was disclosed by the Ministry after a meeting between Ethiopia’s Minister of State for Planning and Development, Mr. Seyoum Mekonnen, and the Executive Director of P4G, Ms. Robyn McGuckin.
It was indicated that their discussions focused on the role of the private sector in addressing the challenges of climate change.
During the course of their meeting, Mr. Seyoum thanked the P4G for its ongoing engagement in the sector.
He said that Ethiopia’s selection to host the 2027 P4G Summit is recognition of the significant role the East African nation is playing in fostering international cooperation in the field of green growth and sustainable development.
The State Minister also affirmed that Ethiopia is ready to play its part in the global effort to address the challenges of climate change and build a green economy and sustainable development.
Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) was established in 2018 and is a partnership established by the governments of Denmark, Chile, Colombia, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Korea, Mexico and Vietnam. It is said to be is a new initiative with the ambition of becoming the world’s leading forum for developing concrete public-private-partnerships at scale to deliver on the SDGs and the Paris Climate Agreement.
