Addis Ababa, October 3, 2024 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Freight Forwarder and Shipping Agents Association (EFFSAA) has been selected to host the prestigious 2027 FIATA World Congress, marking a historic milestone for both Ethiopia and the African continent, International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations announced in a press release issued this week.
Marking the turn of a new century in FIATA’s history, the FIATA World Congress will take place in the vibrant Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa.
In light of this news, Minister of Transport and Logistics of Ethiopia, Alemu Sime, stated that the fact that his country has been chosen to organize this conference is a confirmation of its African center in the international cargo movement and in the transport and logistics sectors.
“We are proud that the International Confederation of Freight Forwarders Associations chose Ethiopia to accept our request to hold the conference in 2027 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in connection with the centenary year of its founding in Addis Ababa,” the Minister noted on his social media page.
Sharing his thoughts on the significance of this achievement, EFFSAA President Dawit Woubishet, stated: “This is not only a source of immense pride for Ethiopia but for Africa as a whole. We are honoured and thrilled to have been given this extraordinary opportunity to host such a globally recognised event. The 2027 FIATA World Congress will be held in Addis Ababa, a city known for its rich culture, dynamic growth, and pivotal role in regional and international diplomacy.”

The 2027 FIATA World Congress is expected to draw over 800 industry experts, leaders, and stakeholders from around the world. Key topics will include sustainability, digitalisation, and the advancement of infrastructure and policy development in Africa to support the region’s increasing role in global logistics.
The FIATA Director General, along with the FIATA Presidency, extended their congratulations to EFFSAA, expressing confidence that Addis Ababa will be an ideal location for the event.
