Ethiopia secures gold in International Junior Men’s Doubles Tennis Tournament

Addis Ababa, October 20, 2024 (FBC) – Ethiopia triumphed over Japan and India to clinch the gold medal in the international junior men’s doubles tennis tournament, marking a historic achievement for the nation.

This competition marked Ethiopia’s inaugural gold medal in this discipline, a significant milestone in the country’s sporting history. According to the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the winning pair, Dawit Sheleme and Dawit Fiseha, delivered impressive performances, finishing with scores of 64/25 and 10/5.

The final matches were held at the Addis Ababa Tennis Club, where excitement filled the air as the athletes showcased their skills. Minister of Culture and Sports, Shewit Shanka, celebrated the success of the African Table Tennis Tournament, which concluded recently in Ethiopia, thanking all participants and organizers for their collaboration from start to finish.
