Addis Ababa, April 16, 2024 (FBC) – At an international pledge conference convened by Ethiopia, in collaboration with the United Kingdom and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), as well as other development partners, over 630 million US dollars was raised to bolster humanitarian assistance efforts in Ethiopia.
During the event, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Ambassador Taye Atske-Selassie, underscored that the paramount priority of the Ethiopian Government is the steadfast protection of local livelihoods, the seamless integration of disaster risk reduction strategies into comprehensive development plans, and the fortification of resilience among the nation’s most vulnerable people.
Concurrently, Foreign Minister Taye also engaged in a fruitful and substantive dialogue with Mr. Carl Sakau, the Deputy Executive Director of the World Food Program, on the sidelines of the pledge-gathering proceedings in Geneva, Switzerland.
The constructive discussion centered around further strengthening the partnership and bolstering support for Ethiopia’s transformative long-term development and humanitarian initiatives of great consequence.
