Addis Ababa, December 3, 2024 (FBC) – State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mesganu Arga, held discussions with Ahmed bin Saleh bin Ayadah Al-Hamshi, Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture.
The talks focused on increasing Saudi Arabia’s government and private sector involvement in investment and trade in Ethiopia, particularly in agricultural production. The two sides also deliberated on finalizing proposed agreements between the two countries.
On the occasion, Ambassador Mesganu emphasized the mutual benefits of enhancing cooperation in agricultural investment. He highlighted Ethiopia’s geographic proximity to Saudi Arabia and the strong historical people-to-people ties as critical factors for strengthening collaboration.
He further noted the growing interest of Saudi businessmen in importing Ethiopian livestock and expanding agricultural investments in Ethiopia. Similarly, he underlined Ethiopia’s need to import fertilizers from Saudi Arabia, stressing that these initiatives align with current priorities.
