Ethiopia-Russia Friendship Association celebrates annual anniversary

Addis Ababa, February 4, 2021 (FBC) – The Ethiopia-Russia Friendship Association, a syndicate formed by intimate Ethiopians and Russians, celebrated its annual anniversary of its establishment on Wednesday.

Ethiopian Ambassador to Russia, Alemayehu Tegenu and other members of the diplomatic community have presided over the celebration.

On the occasion, Ambassador Alemayehu said Ethiopia and Russia have been enjoying longstanding and historical relationship that dates back to more than a century underlining the role of the friendship association in cementing the cordial ties between the two nations.

Saying that Ethiopia and Russia have been exchanging best experiences in many sectors, the ambassador called up on member to contribute their share in reinforcing the cooperation between the two countries in fields of science, trade, education and investment areas.

He also briefed the members on the latest situation in Ethiopia including the ongoing rehabilitation and humanitarian activities in Tigray calling them to clarify the situation to others concerned about the issue.

Chairperson of the association, Tatyana Zulve, to her part, said the syndicate is working to enhance the longstanding friendship between the two countries and foster Ethiopia’s cultural, historical values and tradition costumes and cuisines among Russians and the rest of the world as well.

Scholars from Russian Science Academy have tabled presentations on Ethiopian languages and the Geeze alphabet as traditional songs and dances were staged on the ceremony.
