Addis Ababa, December 20, 2023 (FBC) – Minister of Education, Professor Birhanu Nega received a high-level government delegation from Russia to discuss bilateral cooperation on the education sector between the two countries.
The Minister along with his team welcomed the delegation and held discussion about the longstanding Ethio-Russia education cooperation and partnership.
During the meeting, Professor Birhanu gave detailed overview of Ethiopian education system, structure and its strategic areas.
In line with these, he highlighted the fundamental departure of filling gaps to promote the quality of education.
Speaking about the massive reforms that the Ministry is undertaking, Birhanu stressed on the ongoing University autonomy and differentiation programs that he hopes highly significant to excel the Ethiopian higher education system.
State Minister for the Higher Education Sector, Kora Tushine on his part praised the Russian Government for its remarkable support in the higher education sector.
The state minister has also demanded the government of Russia to further strengthen its cooperation and partnership in the Education and Research sector.
Meanwhile, Head of International Cooperation and Public Relations of the Ministry of Education of the Russia, Usman Abdul-Azievich (PhD) on his part expressed his Ministry’s interest to further strengthen Education collaboration with its Ethiopian counterpart.
The two parties have agreed to update the existing memorandum of understanding and to step up procedures via diplomatic Chanel.
They have also agreed to further strengthen cooperation in Education sector, Ministry of Education indicated.
