Ethiopia reports two new COVID-19 cases

Addis Ababa, April 22, 2020 (FBC) -Ethiopia has confirmed two new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19), out of the 1073 samples tested during the past 24 hours.

This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases to 116.

One of the confirmed cases is a resident of Gewane woreda, Afar regional state, with no travel history abroad.

The other one is an Ethiopian-born American national who was in a mandatory quarantine.

Five people (four from Addis Ababa and one from Dire Dawa) have also recovered from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 21.

The country has so far registered three deaths from the virus.

According to the latest figures from Johns Hopkins University, more than to 2.5 million cases of coronavirus have been registered globally.

More than 177,000 people have died and more than 696,000 have recovered from the virus.
