Addis Ababa, June 26, 2020 (FBC) –Ethiopia registered a record 8 COVID- 19-related fatalities in the past 24 hours, pushing the country’s death toll to 89.
The number of cases also rose to 5,425, with 250 new infections being reported during the same period.
The new cases were identified out of the 5,414 samples collected in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health.
Among the new cases, 158 are male and 92 are female aged between 3 months and 80 years. Some 240 of the cases are Ethiopians, while the other 10 are foreign nationals.
Of the new cases, 177 are from Addis Ababa, 21 from Tigray, 20 from Amhara, 18 from Gambella, 8 from Oromia, 4 from Somali and one each from Dire Dawa and Benishangul Gumuz regions.
The Ministry further reported that 144 patients have recovered from the virus, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,688.
Ethiopia has now a total of 3,646 active cases, with 27 of them in a severe condition. The total number of tests conducted so far stands at 237, 464.
