Ethiopia repatriates 51 citizens who were facing hardships in Lebanon

Addis Ababa, October 8, 2024 (FBC) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, in collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs, and the Ethiopian Disaster Risk Management Commission announced the successful and safe return of 51 Ethiopians, who were in a difficult condition in Lebanon.

The returnees arrived at Bole International Airport on 07 October 2024, where they were warmly welcomed by high-level officials from the relevant government agencies.

They have been facing difficult circumstances in Lebanon and their return is a testament to the government’s commitment to the welfare of its citizens abroad.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs prioritizes citizen-centred diplomacy,” stated Ambassador Nebiat Getachew, Spokesperson for the Ministry. “Our primary focus has been on the well-being of Ethiopians in Lebanon, and the return of these 51 individuals is a direct result of these efforts.”

The government of Ethiopia is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all Ethiopian citizens, both at home and abroad. Collaborative efforts with partner organizations will continue to facilitate the repatriation of Ethiopians facing challenges in foreign countries.
