Ethiopia reiterates its continued commitment to SDGs

Addis Ababa, July 18, 2023 (FBC) – A high-level Ethiopian delegation is taking part in the United Nations High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development Goals at the UN Headquarters (SDGs) in New York City.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Amb. Mesganu Arga in his statement at the Forum highlighted the myriad of progresses achieved with regards to the implementation of SDGs.

He reiterated Ethiopia’s continued commitment towards realizing SDGs by giving special attention to their implementation, among others, by allocating a large chunk of its annual budget to this effect and related pro-poor policies and programs.

Interventions in terms of climate action, provision of water and sanitation; clean, sustainable and affordable energy; scientific innovation and infrastructural development and gender equality, constitute Ethiopia’s commitment to SDGs, Amb. Mesganu added.

On the sidelines of the Forum, the State Minister also met with the Executive Director of the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), Catherine Russell and discussed ways of further cooperation.

The Forum that opened on 17 July will conclude on 20 July 2023, as per MFA Ethiopia.
