Addis Ababa, April 13, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopia will continue strengthening its efforts for regional peace by preventing cross-border crime and terrorism, the Ethiopian Federal Police reaffirmed.
The Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO) Organs’ three-day forum on preventing cross-border crimes and terrorism has concluded today.
The head of the Ethiopian Federal Police’s Criminal Investigation Department, Deputy Commissioner General Zelalem Mengestie, stated that the consultation will help prevent cross-border threats to peace and security in the Horn of Africa region.
It is stated that recommendations related to sexual, terrorism, cyber and law violation crimes were presented and discussed during the meeting.
DCG Zelalem underscored that EAPCCO, chaired by Ethiopia, will continue to strengthen its support to countries in the region to prevent terrorism and cross-border crime threats.
The Director of National Interpol and International Police Cooperation at the Ethiopian Federal Police, Commander Tsegaye Haile, said that the anti-terrorism and cross-border crime prevention work carried out by Ethiopia through community participation and cooperation with neighboring countries was presented in a way that gave lessons.
It is indicated that the officers of the criminal investigation bureau from member countries participated in the EAPCCO Organs Meeting, held in Addis Ababa.
