Addis Ababa, April 23, 2021 (FBC) – Ahmed Shide, Ethiopia’s Minister of Finance welcomed UN Resident Coordinator for Ethiopia, Dr. Catherine Sozi to his office for a briefing on the current situation in Ethiopia.
The meeting focused on progress and challenges in addressing humanitarian needs in Ethiopia that are compounded by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Ministry of Finance
He thanked the UN for the continued technical and financial support Ethiopia receives to implement humanitarian and development programs and projects in the country.
They also discussed the concerns raised by Security Council especially about the need for a scaled-up humanitarian response and unfettered humanitarian access.
The Minister reiterated the commitment of the government to continue providing humanitarian access to the Tigray region and urged the international community to scale up assistance to the region and beyond.
