Addis Ababa, May 28, 2020 (FBC) -Ethiopia’s confirmed COVID-19 cases climbed to 831 today after 100 people were tested positive out of the 4,950 samples taken in the past 24 hours.
Of the new cases, 53 are male and 47 are female, with the youngest being 3 years old and oldest 70 years, according to a statement by the Ministry of Health.
It indicated that 99 of the cases are Ethiopians, while the remaining one is a Burundian citizen.
Out of the cases, 94 are from Addis Ababa, one from Tigray, two from Somali and three from Oromia regional states.
According to the statement, 3 of the cases have travel history from abroad, 35 having contact with confirmed cases, and the remaining 62 have neither travel history nor known contact traces.
Ten people have also recovered from the virus, taking the total number of recoveries to 191.
A 70-year-old woman has also died, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to seven.
The country’s total test count currently stands at 96,566.
