Addis Ababa, August 1, 2023 (FBC) – The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and Qatar reiterated to further strengthen their cooperation in development undertakings.
The vow was made in a meeting between Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to the State of Qatar Faisal Ali Ibrahim and the Director of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Shaheen Ali Alkaabi.
During their meeting, Ambassador Faisal mentioned that Ethiopia and Qatar enjoyed longstanding relations. He reminded that the countries are cooperating in various fields, indicating that there is a room for improvement to further strengthen their cooperation.
The Ambassador recalled Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s recent discussion with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at the UNLDC5 Summit held in Doha to take the longstanding relations of the two countries to a higher level.
Amb. Faisal and the Director also exchanged views on speeding up the Qatar-backed special kidney treatment hospital construction project.
Their discussion further reviewed issues pertaining to further strengthening the bilateral ties, development cooperation, the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) and the conflict in neighboring Sudan.
Director of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shaheen Ali Alkaabi, for his part, reiterated that his country is ready play its part to strengthen the bilateral development cooperation with Ethiopia.
