Ethiopia ponders plan to reopen tourism

Addis Ababa, October 1, 2020 (FBC) – Ministry of Culture and Tourism along with various stakeholders has discussed a proposal tabled in a way how to reopen the tourism industry battling with impact of the pandemic for months.

The Ministry consulted with operators of the private sectors including hotel owners and tour operators and high government officials on ways of reopening the tourism sector with adherence to COVID 19 precautionary measures based on the proposal tabled by experts.

Minister of Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Dr. Hirut Kassaw, on the occasion said recommendations forwarded by the proposal will be implemented in conformity with WHO and African CDC guidelines while reopening the sector.

The recommendations included in the proposal are vital to stimulate the tourism industry there by go through negative influences the pandemic caused in the sector.

Ethiopia will reopen the tourism sector as of the next month in adherence to COVID 19 precautions; it is stated on the occasion.
