Ethiopia Permanent Rep to UN says undue foreign interference in nation’s internal affairs unacceptable

Addis Ababa, August 26, 2021 (FBC) – Ethiopia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nation (UN), Ambassador Taye Atskesellassie, addressing UN Security Council meeting on situation in Tigray, underlined that any undue foreign interference in nation’s internal affairs isn’t appreciated by a soul in the country.

He said that the terrorist TPLF has continued atrocious crimes against civilians in Amhara and Afar Regional states.

Terrorist group rejected the humanitarian ceasefire declared by the Ethiopian government to enable peaceful farming conditions and safe humanitarian operation, and has continued atrocities to the wider communities in the two regions.

“TPLF is not a victim. Rather it is the culprit,” Ambassador Taye paraphrased.

The outlaw TPLF killed 33 infrastructure engineers, confiscated humanitarian convoys, looted public and private properties and blocked relief operations, he said.

Ambassador Taye also announced reduction of checkpoints and and installation of modern scanning technologies in the humanitarian corridors in the northern parts of the country to facilitate conducive climate for aid operations.

He further reiterated the federal government’s commitment to peace, the enforcement of law and order, and delivery of humanitarian assistance to the needy.
