Addis Ababa, November 4, 2024 (FBC) – The Permanent Mission of Ethiopia participated in the 16th BRICS summit outcomes briefing session organized by the permanent mission of the Russian Federation held recently in Geneva.
This session served as a platform for BRICS member nations and partners to discuss the outcomes of the Kazan Declaration and explore potential areas for cooperation in Geneva.
In his remarks, Ethiopia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Offices and other International Organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Tsegab Kebebew, appreciated the Russian Federation on the successful hosting of the Kazan Summit.
He underscored the significance of the summit in addressing critical issues such as global and regional stability, economic cooperation, sustainable development, and cultural exchanges, which enhance mutual understanding among BRICS member states.
Ambassador Tsegab called for collective action to advocate for necessary reforms in global governance structures, particularly emphasizing the democratization of the United Nations to better represent the interests of developing countries.
He highlighted the need for a more inclusive approach to international relations that reflects the diverse voices of the global community.
The Ambassador further outlined priority areas for collaboration among BRICS nations in Geneva, including human rights, trade and health negotiations, digital technologies, climate-related disaster reduction, etc among many others.
He reaffirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to addressing the pressing challenges faced by the global community, stressing the importance of working together to achieve shared goals, as reported by the Ethiopian Permanent Mission in Geneva.
