Ethiopia, Netherlands sign €15.96 Grant Agreement

Addis Ababa, July 25, 2020 (FBC) – Ethiopia and Netherlands have signed a grant agreement amounting to 15.96 Million Euro virtually aimed to finance Kunzila Integrated Landscape management and WASH project.

Strengthening community-based watershed management, improving agricultural productivity and livelihoods, enhancing the capacity of community-based organizations are among activities prioritized by the project to be financed by the grant.

It is also aimed at managing natural resources in a sustainable way and implementing rural and urban water supply and sanitation schemes.

The project will be implemented by the consortium comprises of the WLRC of Addis Ababa University and SNV, in Amhara National Regional State.

The overall goal of the project is to provide financial and technical supports to contribute to a more prosperous and healthy population in Amhara National Regional State.

According to Ministry of Finance, the project specifically aims to improve agricultural productivity for 22, 000 people, create sustainable employment for at least 750 youth, access clean water for 22,058 rural and 9,529 urban people and strengthn the capacity of community-based organizations.

Ahmed Shide, Minister, Ministry of Finance and Thijs Woudstra, Charge’ d’ Affairs a.i, Embassy of the kingdom of the Netherlands to Ethiopia, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective countries.
