Addis Ababa, June 11, 2024 (FBC) – The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Kingdom of Morocco explored potential avenues to work together on peace building.
This story developed following a meeting between Ethiopia’s Minister of State for Peace, Keyredin Tezera, and the Moroccan Ambassador to Ethiopia, Nezha Alaoui M’hammdi.
During the discussion, State Minister Keyredin Keyredin emphasized the Ethiopian government’s commitment to achieving lasting peace, fostering national consensus, and strengthening fundamental state-building activities.
Mentioning the long-standing people-to-people connections between Ethiopia and Morocco, which are rooted in shared cultural, religious, and other aspects, Keyredin believed that these deep-rooted ties would create a conducive environment for collaborative peacebuilding and solidarity initiatives.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Nezha Alaoui M’hamdi expressed her admiration for Ethiopia’s resilience in overcoming challenges and its capacity to persevere in the face of adversity.
She mentioned that Morocco has something to learn from this, adding that her country will continue to work together with Ethiopia on peacebuilding and national reconciliation.
Ambassador Nezha also pointed out that King Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity will open its office in Addis Ababa to strengthen the relationship between the two countries.
Moreover, she revealed that Ethiopia and Morocco are in the process of setting up a joint ministerial commission to facilitate collaboration in various areas, including peacebuilding and national reconciliation.
