Ethiopia marks the World No Tobacco day

Addis Ababa, May 31, 2021 (FBC) – Ethiopia has marked the 34th World No Tobacco Day for 29th round through various events focused on creation of awareness on ways to quit smoking and ensure smoke free environment.

On the occasion, Minister of Health Dr. Lia Tadesse said that in addition to the known health risks of tobacco like cardiovascular diseases, cancer, lung diseases and diabetes.

The Coronavirus pandemic has also highlighted an increased risk smokers have to develop severe and fatal COVID-19, she said.

“Stay Healthy By Not Smoking! And if you are smoking, there is help for you to stop” she affirmed in her message of the day.
