Addis Ababa, April 25, 2024 (FBC) – The Ministry of Health has officially rolled out a nationwide comprehensive health management program today, slated for implementation over the next six years in Ethiopia.
At the launch event, Ayele Teshome, Minister of State for Health, emphasized the necessity of establishing robust health leadership to address evident deficiencies, despite the current due focus placed on the healthcare sector.
He underscored that the forthcoming six-year period will witness the execution of a rigorous health management initiative aimed at bridging existing gaps starting from this year.
The program’s objective, as outlined by the State Minister, is to cultivate proficient leadership within the health domain and enhance the involvement and capabilities of women and young leaders in the sector.
Ayele emphasized the imperative of fostering effective leadership to bolster the healthcare sector through the optimal utilization of available resources within the country, underscoring the significance of engagement from all stakeholders.
Despite the ongoing advancements in the country’s medical system, the State Minister highlighted the challenge posed by insufficient collaboration resulting from professional divisions.
Consequently, efforts under the six-year program will be directed towards cultivating professionally trained leaders capable of steering the health sector with quality and efficiency, aiming to mitigate this issue.
