Addis Ababa, July 7, 2021 (FBC) – The Ministry of Health on Wednesday launched the second phase of the Major Cities Emergency, Injury and Critical Care Improvement Program (MEICIP) in 8 selected cities by signing an MOU with city mayors, university hospitals and regional health bureaus.
Building a resilient health system that can withstand a variety of emergencies and protect the community is one of Ministry of Health’s main strategic priorities, said the Health Minister Dr. Lia Tadesse.
One of our key initiatives to build resilent health system is MEICIP which aims to improve the emergency and critical care system in major cities including developing strong pre-hospital service and linkage, the Health Minister underscored.
“Hence, taking the lessons learned from the five cities, we have expanded to 8 more cities” Dr. Lia explained, adding “ I call upon all stakeholders to play our part for the success of this program by engaging the community, and build a responsive health system that can minimize the number of deaths and injuries and improve our cities”
