Addis Ababa, June 18, 2024 (FBC) – The BRICS countries have been instrumental in challenging the existing global economic order that often marginalizes developing nations, Vice President of Ethiopia’s ruling Prosperity Party, Adem Farah remarked.
The International Interparty “BRICS and Partner Countries” Forum being held in Vladivostok, Russia, enters its third day today.
A delegation led by Prosperity Party Vice President Adem Farah, is participating in the forum.
The Vice President delivered a speech at a session titled “Strengthening economic and financial ties between countries of the world majority for building a just world order,” which is part of the BRICS and Partner Countries Parties’ Forum.
The Vice President in his speech highlighted Ethiopia’s positive perception of the BRICS group and its efforts to reform the global economic system.
“BRICS countries have been instrumental in challenging the existing global economic order that often marginalizes developing nations,” he said.
Adem added that by advocating for a more equitable distribution of resources and opportunities, BRICS has championed the cause of the world’s majority, a stance that Ethiopia strongly supports,
In today’s interconnected world, economic cooperation is not merely an option but a necessity, the Vice President of PP underlined.
He praised the BRICS for its remarkable progress in fostering economic partnerships that transcend traditional boundaries, and expressed Ethiopia’s keen interest in further integrating and contributing to this dynamic framework.
Emphasizing the need for a united and coordinated response to global challenges, Adem said, “The global challenges we face—ranging from economic inequality and climate change to technological disparities—require a united and coordinated response.”
Highlighting Ethiopia’s bilateral relations with the BRICS and partner countries, Adem noted, “We have cultivated strong bilateral relations with individual BRICS and partner countries, and we are eager to expand these ties.”
According to Adem, Ethiopia’s partnerships have spanned various domains, including trade, investment, technology transfer, and education. These collaborations have not only accelerated our development trajectory but also reinforced the bonds of friendship and mutual respect.”
Adem concluded by stressing the need for a just world order based on the principles of fairness, equality, and mutual benefit.
“A just world order is predicated on the principles of fairness, equality, and mutual benefit. BRICS and its partner countries have a unique opportunity to lead by example. By fostering inclusive economic policies, promoting fair trade practices, and supporting sustainable development initiatives, we can create a world where prosperity is shared, and opportunities are accessible to all,” he said.
