Addis Ababa, July 28, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopia is has a keen interest in enhancing cooperation with India in sustainable agriculture and rural development, Ethiopian Ambassador to India, Demeke Atnafu, said.
Ambassador Demeke shared this desire while meeting with Manoj Nardeo Singh and Mr. Rami Qtaishat, Secretary General and Assistant Secretary General of Africa-Asian Rural Development Organization (AARDO), respectively.
It is noted that they discussed issues pertaining to the activities of AARDO with special focus on the participation of Ethiopia in the organization’s Human Resource Development Programs.
Ambassador Demeke stated that enhancing and scaling up the production and productivity of agriculture sector is one of the top priorities of the Ethiopian government.
He also disclosed the keen interest of Ethiopia to strengthen the cooperation and collaboration in areas such as sustainable agriculture and rural development with through sharing agricultural skills, technologies and innovations.
The Ethiopian Embassy in New Delhi noted that more than 70 Ethiopians participated in training program organized by AARDO from 2017 – 2022 in areas such as technological innovations on integrated water management, reinforcement of livestock, plant diseases and pest management, agricultural technologies.
