Addis Ababa, October 27, 2017 (FBC) – Ethiopia has been elected to the Executive Committee of the Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of Africa (CJCA) and Similar Institutions, as announced by the Constitutional Affairs Inquiry Assembly.

The election took place during the 7th Congress of Constitutional Jurisdictions of Africa held in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. This year’s conference centered on the theme of “Human dignity as a value and founding principle: A source of constitutional interpretation, protection and application of fundamental human rights”

Dessalen Woyesa, Director General of the Office of Council of Constitutional Inquiry, highlighted that Ethiopia’s active involvement in the forum played a significant role in its election to the committee. He noted that this achievement will enhance Ethiopia’s presence and influence on the international stage while providing valuable insights from countries with advanced constitutional practices.

The congress serves as a platform for African constitutional courts to share experiences, fostering cooperation and reinforcing the constitutional framework across the continent.
