Addis Ababa, January 26, 2021 (FBC) –The Ethiopia and Japan have signed a grant agreement amounting 190 million birr for the construction of asphalt road project.
The grant aid is being provided through the Economic and Social Development Programme, with a view to contributing towards the country’s social and economic development by providing asphalt material to the Ethiopian Roads Authority.
The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Yasmin Wohabrebbi, State Minister of Finance ITO Takako, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ethiopia.
Yetemgeta Asrat, Deputy Director General of the Ethiopian Roads Authority also attended the signing ceremony which was held on the premises of the Ministry of Finance.
Yasmin Wohabrebbi, said the agreement will reinforce cooperation between the two partners and lead to further possibilities to achieve more development goals.
She also said the objective of the grant is to assist efforts of the government of Ethiopia to strengthen and increase its road transport infrastructure.
Japan’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, Ito Takako, said that her country is resolute to make contributions to the development programs in Ethiopia.
