Addis Ababa, February 15, 2021 (FBC) – The third Ethiopia-Israel Joint Consultation Meeting held virtually focused at various issues including people to people relations, political and economic cooperation, among others.
During the virtual consultative meeting, it is stated that both governments reached agreements to work in partnership in agricultural sector particularly in Avocado Cultivation, Horticulture, Cyber Security, Investment, Space Science, Power Supply and Peace and Security.
Ethiopian officials extended gratitude to the government of Israel for its support to the country in fighting desert locust swarms.
Participants from both sided have also discussed activities which are being undertaken by MASHAV in details.
The Ethiopian side briefed Israeli participants on the reform underway in the country since Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed took office, the law enforcement operation conducted in Tigray and the rehabilitation and rebuilding activities being carried out in the region.
Ethiopia’s unwavering stance to resolve border dispute with Sudan and its desire towards the AU-led tripartite negation on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) has been tabled on the political consultative meeting.
Ethiopia’s desires to renovate its religious sites in Israel and establish Cultural Center in Jerusalem were also core discussion points raised on the joint political consultative meeting.
On the other side, Israeli officials explained about the agreement reached with Arab countries and related issues as the participants exchanged view on the significance of the accord.
