Addis Ababa, July 19, 2024 (FBC) – In a ceremony held at the Irish Embassy in Addis Ababa last night, the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Republic of Ireland celebrated the 30th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.
The event was attended by Minister of Women and Social Affairs, Ergoge Tesfaye (PhD.), Deputy Prime Minister of Ireland, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defense Micheál Martin, and invited guests.
During the occasion, Minister Ergoge Tesfaye emphasized the need for a strong framework to enhance cooperation in development, health protection, education, gender equality, and environmental sustainability.
She also highlighted the potential for cooperation in trade and investment sectors, stating that it requires the commitment of both countries to deepen their partnership.
Ethiopia expressed its desire to increase cooperation in trade and investment in the future and called for Ireland’s continued support in facilitating business and investment activities in the country.
Tánaiste Micheál Martin, on his part, reaffirmed Ireland’s determination to further strengthen bilateral relations in trade, aviation, tourism, supporting vulnerable citizens, and other fields.
