Addis Ababa, February 5, 2020 (FBC) –Ethiopia is implementing the third phase of the Urban Institutional and Infrastructure Development Program (UIIDP).
The program was implemented in 19 urban areas in the first phase and in 44 in the second phase, said the Ministry of Urban Development and Construction.
The third phase was launched last year in 117 urban areas at a cost of 859 million US dollars, said the Ministry in a press conference issued today.
UIIDP which was implemented in the past 11 months created job opportunities for more than 800,000 unemployed youth, the Ministry noted.
The objective of UIIDP is to enhance the institutional performance of urban local governments to develop and sustain urban infrastructure, services, and local economic development.
