Addis Ababa, August 15, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopia and Hungary signed a new bilateral air service agreement on August 14, 2023, which included many aspects of the agreement which was signed in 1965 to take into account the market conditions of the time and the level of development of the industry.
Before the signing of the agreement, a draft document was exchanged and each detail was discussed focusing on protecting Ethiopia’s interests, the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority said.
It uis noted that the airlines of the two countries have reached an agreement to enable them operate 7 passenger and unlimited cargo flights between Ethiopia and Hungary.
In addition to the Ethiopian Airlines’ flight to Hungary, an agreement has been reached to allow unlimited cargo flights to other third countries in central Europe, as well as passenger flights to 3 countries in central and beyond with fifth traffic rights.
Projected to create a huge market opportunity for Ethiopian Airlines, the agreement will be implemented temporarily from August 14, 2023, according to Ethiopian Civil Aviation.
It is mentioned that the agreement was signed by the Director General of the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority, Getachew Mengstie, and his Hungarian counterpart, Mate Lowinger.
