Addis Ababa, Addis Ababa, March 25, 2022 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has announced finalization of preparations for the fourth year Green Legacy Initiative including preparation of seedlings to be planted in various parts of the country.
“Green Legacy preparations currently underway as we gear up for the fourth year,” the Premier tweeted.
Ethiopians planted more than 6.7 billion trees last year scaling up performances during the previous two years that saw planting of a total of close to 10 million seedlings across the nation.
The government of Ethiopia last year distributed 1 billion trees to neighboring countries including Eritrea and Djibouti as part of the efforts to regionalize the Green Legacy Initiative.
Ethiopia is achieving its plan set to plant 20 billion trees by 2022 for over 16 billion have already been accomplished.
