Addis Ababa, January 23, 2020 (FBC) –Ethiopia and Finland have signed more than 1.3 billion birr financing agreement for the implementation of CoWASH programme.
A delegation of Finnish decision-makers and opinion leaders visited the Community-Led Accelerated WASH (CoWASH) project site in Kinbaba kebele, Amhara regional state.
Currently, the bilateral CoWASH programme covers 76 woredas in five regional states.
In the past 25 years, over 5 million rural Ethiopians have gained access to clean water owing to Finland’s support.
In the CoWASH programme, the communities are in charge of the planning, implementation and maintenance of climate resilient water schemes.
Since 2017, Finland also contributes to the Consolidated WASH Account (CWA) sector budget support programme.
